As the new year 2026 approaches, the “2026 prophecy” of Bulgarian famous prophet Baba Vanga, known for allegedly predicting events such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic, is gaining renewed attention.
On the 29th of last month, foreign media including India’s Free Press Journal and Economic Times reported that Vanga listed seven topics as events that will occur this year.

According to foreign media reports, Vanga mentioned global large-scale conflicts, worldwide natural disasters, severe economic recessions, and the possibility of contact with extraterrestrial life in relation to 2026.
The first topic Vanga highlighted was global large-scale conflicts arising from geopolitical tensions among major powers such as the U.S., China, and Russia. Experts predicted that ongoing conflicts in various regions, including the “Taiwan issue,” the “Russia-Ukraine war,” and the “Israel-Hamas war,” could become potential factors for escalation.
The possibility of a shift in global power was also mentioned. Vanga foresaw that the center of power would move to Asia, particularly to China. According to reports from British tabloid newspapers, this year was described as one in which China’s influence could significantly expand, and Taiwan was frequently cited as a focal point of tension.

The possibility of political change and leadership uncertainty was also presented. Particularly, there were interpretations suggesting a political upheaval in Russia, and followers reportedly believe that Vanga prophesied the emergence of a new Russian leader in 2026.
In the economic sector, forecasts suggested that the global economy could suffer significant impacts due to currency crises, increased market volatility, and deepening inflation. Alongside predictions that the financial turmoil starting from 2025 could continue into 2026, exacerbating global market uncertainty.
Prophecies related to science were also included. It was prophesied that approximately 7-8% of the Earth’s land area would be destroyed due to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and extreme climate phenomena. The scientific community explains that climate change is intensifying weather anomalies, and the rise in global temperatures is scientifically confirmed to increase the risks of floods, wildfires, and earthquakes.

The possibility of humanity making first contact with extraterrestrial life this year was also raised. Vanga was a blind mystic from Bulgaria. Born in 1911, he claimed to have received the ability to see the future from God after losing his sight in a sandstorm at the age of 12. Although Vanga died in 1996, he left prophecies until 5079. While there are no official records of his prophecies, according to followers and various media reports, he predicted the death of Princess Diana, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and large-scale natural disasters, among others.
